Who we are
FitAir is an independent Android app made by Nexvyn and Surendar Singh (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the FitAir app and this website, fitair.app. FitAir is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Google or Fitbit. “Fitbit”, “Fitbit Air” and “Google Health” are trademarks of Google LLC.
Questions about this policy go to support@fitair.app.
The short version for health data
We never receive your health data. FitAir does not request Android’s internet permission, so the app has no way to upload, sync or send anything. There is no FitAir account, server or cloud. Everything described below happens on your phone, and we can’t see any of it.
What FitAir reads from Health Connect
Your Fitbit Air syncs to the Google Health app, which saves your data to Health Connect on your phone. With your permission, FitAir reads the following from Health Connect:
- Sleep sessions and sleep stages
- Heart rate, resting heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV)
- Respiratory rate and skin temperature
- Steps, distance, total calories burned and exercise sessions
- Only if you turn them on in FitAir’s Profile: blood oxygen (SpO₂), VO₂ max and weight
FitAir also asks for two optional kinds of access. History lets it read up to 90 days back, so it can learn your baseline sooner; without it, FitAir reads the last 30 days. Background lets it update your scores while the app is closed, so they’re ready in the morning; without it, FitAir syncs only while it’s open. You can grant or revoke any of these in Health Connect at any time.
What FitAir writes to Health Connect
When you record a workout in FitAir and choose to save it, FitAir writes that workout to Health Connect: the exercise session, its heart rate and, for outdoor workouts, its distance. FitAir asks for this permission only the first time you save a workout, and writes nothing else.
Other data on your phone
- Bluetooth. FitAir connects to the band you’ve already paired to show its battery and your live heart rate. It doesn’t scan for or connect to other devices.
- Location. Used only during an outdoor workout you start, to measure distance with your phone’s GPS. FitAir never uses location in the background or when no workout is running.
- Journal. The moods, tags, drinks, caffeine and notes you choose to log.
- Profile. Your settings, such as birth year, sleep goal, maximum heart rate and theme, and a profile photo if you add one. The photo is copied from the image you pick into FitAir’s own storage.
- Notifications. Used only to show a workout that’s in progress.
- Alarms. If you use the sleep plan’s wake-up alarm, FitAir hands the time to your phone’s Clock app, where you confirm it. FitAir doesn’t set alarms by itself.
How FitAir uses this data
Only on your phone, to work out your Recovery, Sleep and Strain scores, sleep plan, stress, energy, trends, insights and workouts, and to show them to you. FitAir does not sell, share or transfer your data. It does not use it for advertising, and does not use it to decide on credit, insurance or employment.
FitAir’s use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Where it’s stored, and for how long
Everything FitAir works out, and everything you enter, is kept in the app’s private storage on your phone for as long as FitAir is installed. FitAir leaves its data out of Android cloud backups and device-to-device transfers, so it isn’t copied to Google’s servers or to a new phone.
Uninstalling FitAir, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all of it. Workouts FitAir saved to Health Connect stay there until you delete them in Health Connect, like any other Health Connect data.
When something leaves FitAir
Only when you ask it to:
- Sharing a score. If you tap share, FitAir makes an image of that score and hands it to the app you choose, such as a messaging app. What happens next is up to that app.
- Opening Google Health. When your band needs a sync, FitAir can open the Google Health app (or its Play Store page) for you. It passes no data to it.
FitAir’s typeface is supplied by Google Play services’ font provider on your phone. FitAir passes it only the name of the font, never any of your data.
Your choices and rights
- Allow or revoke any Health Connect permission in Health Connect at any time.
- Allow or revoke Bluetooth, location and notification permissions in Android settings.
- Edit or delete journal entries and your profile photo in the app.
- Delete everything FitAir holds by uninstalling it or clearing its storage.
Because we never receive your app data, we can’t look it up, export it or delete it for you; it’s entirely under your control on your phone. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you (for example, an email you send us). Contact us to use them.
This website
fitair.app uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. It’s hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request information, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We use these short-lived logs only to keep the site running. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when your browser fetches them.
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you, and delete them when they’re no longer needed for that.
Health information
FitAir is not a medical device. Its scores and insights are estimates for general wellness and do not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Talk to a doctor about any health concerns. See our terms of use.
Children
FitAir is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect data from children, and, as above, it sends no data to us at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects how the app handles your data, we’ll also describe it in the app’s release notes.
